# Update a folder

> PATCH /folder/{id}/

Renames a folder, changes its color, or changes its `folder_type`. Accepts `PUT` as well as `PATCH` — send only the fields you want to change.

<Note>
  Requires the account's `FOLDER_MANAGEMENT` quota and the `FOLDER_CAN_CREATE_AND_MANAGE` permission (the same gate as [Create a folder](/api-reference/management-api/folders/create), checked for quota *existence* only — not the remaining-count check a create runs). See the [Management API overview](/api-reference/management-api/overview) for authentication details.
</Note>

<ParamField path="id" type="integer" required>

</ParamField>

<ParamField body="name" type="string">

</ParamField>

<ParamField body="color" type="string">
  Hex color, e.g. `#4F6BF4`, or `null` to clear it.
</ParamField>

<ParamField body="folder_type" type="string">
