# Detach tags

> POST /qr/tags/delete/

Removes tag associations for the given tag names across every QR Code the account owns.

```
POST   https://api.scanova.io/qr/tags/delete/
Authorization: 401f7ac837da42b97f613d789819ff93537bee6a
```

<ParamField body="tags" type="array" required>
  Tag names to detach.
</ParamField>

<RequestExample>
  ```bash cURL theme={null}
  curl -X POST "https://api.scanova.io/qr/tags/delete/" \
    -H "Authorization: 401f7ac837da42b97f613d789819ff93537bee6a" \
    -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
    -d '{
        "tags": [
            "print"
        ]
    }'
  ```
</RequestExample>

Returns `204 No Content`. If none of the given names exist for this account the call returns `400` instead — a partially-matching list succeeds for the names that do exist.

<Note>
  This is a `POST` that deletes: the tag names travel in the body rather than the path, because tags are identified by name and a name can contain characters awkward to place in a URL. Detaching also fires the tag-cleanup signal, which removes tags left attached to nothing.
</Note>
