# Microsoft Office

> Insert Scanova QR Codes directly inside Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The Microsoft Office integration is an Office add-in — not an OAuth connection. It doesn't sync data back into Scanova; it lets you generate and drop a Scanova QR Code into a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document without leaving Office.

<Note>
  This is a **Design** category integration, same shape as Canva, Google Docs, and Adobe. It has no "Active connection" state and doesn't count against your integration connection quota — clicking through it in Scanova just opens the add-in's marketplace listing.
</Note>

## Prerequisites

* A Scanova account (any plan — the catalog and setup panel are visible regardless of plan; only the data-sync integrations enforce a connection quota).
* A Microsoft 365 account with permission to install add-ins for the Office apps you use.

## Installing the add-in

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the integration from Scanova">
    In the Scanova dashboard, go to **Integrations** in the left sidebar, click **Browse all integrations**, then filter to the **Design** category. Click **Setup** on the **Microsoft Office** card to open its setup panel.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the marketplace listing">
    Click **Open in marketplace**. This opens the official listing on Microsoft's AppSource marketplace in a new tab: [marketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/product/office/WA200009911](https://marketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/product/office/WA200009911).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Install the add-in in Office">
    Open Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Go to **Home → Add-ins → More Add-ins**, search for **"Scanova QR Codes"**, and click **Install**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in and generate a QR Code">
    Open the add-in from **Home → Scanova QR Codes**. Sign in with your Scanova account, then create a new QR Code or pick an existing one and insert it into your document — no switching apps.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What it's for

Use this when your document already lives in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint — a proposal, a report, a slide deck — and you want a live Scanova QR Code embedded in the layout instead of pasting in a static image. It's a document-authoring convenience, not a way to view scan analytics; for that, open the QR Code in Scanova directly.

<Note>
  This page's setup steps and marketplace link were verified directly against the add-in's registered source (`_plugins/ms-office/definition.ts`, `lib/integrations/setup-config.ts`), not a live click-through — the shared test account was locked behind passkey MFA with no backup code during this verification pass. A follow-up pass should confirm the catalog screenshot and click-through flow once account access is restored.
