The one big change
Classic asked you to pick from a grid of 26 QR Code categories. New Scanova asks what you want the code to do, and gives you three routes. Every route ends in the same editor.
You reach all three from Create QR Code.
The QR Code types themselves have not been reduced. They are grouped by intent now instead of listed in one long grid.
Where each QR Code type is now
All 26 Classic categories in one table, sorted by the name you used to know them by. If you are hunting for one thing, use your browser’s find (Ctrl+F / ⌘F) and type the old name. Five types kept their job and changed their label. Those are flagged in the last column.
That is 12 under Quick Code, 13 under Build a Page, and 1 as Describe with AI. Nothing was removed.
Dynamic and Static only
Quick Code describes itself as “direct-action QR codes — no landing page needed.” The cards are split into two groups, and the difference between them matters. The five Dynamic types resolve through Scanova, so you can change where they point after they are printed, and every scan is tracked. Website URL also supports redirection rules and UTM parameters. The seven Static only types encode the information directly into the QR Code, which is why they work with no internet connection at all. The trade-off is that there is nothing to change afterwards and nothing to count: a static code cannot be edited once it is printed, and it produces no scan analytics. This is not new. Static codes have always worked this way. Classic just did not group them under a heading that said so, and New Scanova does. If you might need to change a phone number later, use a Website URL code pointing at a page instead. How Build a Page works now
You no longer pick a category first. Build a Page opens a gallery of ready-made templates, with the category names as chips along the top. Tap a chip to narrow the gallery, or scroll the whole set. The category names are still how templates are organised; they are a filter now rather than a first step. Document, Image and Audio work exactly as they did, including a Document QR Code with a single file, which still opens that file directly rather than showing a page.Announcement is not one of your old categories. It is a new template under Custom Page.
Pages have been retired
In Classic, Pages let you build a standalone landing page without creating a QR Code for it. That is the same thing as a landing page QR Code without the code. Now that building a page is one of the three main routes, keeping a separate Pages section meant two ways to do one job. Your Pages have come across as QR Codes. If you had two Pages, you now have two QR Codes in your QR Codes list, and the pages themselves keep working exactly as before. Nothing to do. There is no Pages item in the sidebar any more. Everything lives under QR Codes.Landing pages are built differently
In Classic you picked a layout, then filled in its fields. In New Scanova you build the page from blocks: add them, drag to reorder, and edit each one in place on the page itself. What that gives you:- A live preview at mobile, tablet and desktop widths before you publish
- Themes to start from, instead of styling every block by hand
- Per-page settings: its own URL slug, SEO fields and an optional password
- An explicit Publish step, so you can save work in progress without it going live
How to do the things you used to do
Create a QR Code that sends someone to a website, phone number or contact card Create QR Code → Quick Code → pick the type. Create a QR Code for a document, image or audio file Create QR Code → Build a Page → pick the Document, Gallery or Audio template. Create a QR Code with a landing page Create QR Code → Build a Page → pick a template. Have a page written for you Create QR Code → Describe with AI → describe the page and refine the draft in the editor. Find the Pages you built in Classic They are in your QR Codes list, alongside everything else. Change how a QR Code looks: colours, patterns, eye shapes, logo Open the QR Code and click Edit Design. Design is no longer a step you pass through while creating the code. You create the code first, then style it whenever you like. See your scan data Analytics in the sidebar, as before. Check whether any of your QR Codes have problems QR Codes → Health Center. It runs five checks across your whole account: expired schedules, unverified domains, unpublished drafts, missing forms, and codes with no scans after 30 days. What it finds is ranked by how much of your traffic each problem is costing. It is new; there was no equivalent in Classic. Attach or manage a lead capture form Forms in the sidebar, as before. What else is new
There is more detail on each of these on the What’s new page.- A rebuilt interface, with a proper dark mode that each person on the account sets for themselves rather than it being an account-wide setting.
- A new landing page editor: build pages from blocks, preview at three widths, publish when you are ready.
- Health Center: one page showing every QR Code with a problem, ranked by how much of your traffic each one is costing.
- Conversion tracking (Pro and above): follow a scan through to what people do on your own site, including pages visited, links clicked and how far they scrolled.
- Multi-page landing pages (Standard and above): several pages behind one QR Code, with navigation between them.
- AI Studio: describe the page you want and refine the draft it generates.
- Passkey sign-in, landing page themes, and Arabic and Simplified Chinese interface languages.
