What it’s for

A Phone Number QR code opens the device’s dialer with a number already filled in, so scanning it is a one-tap way to call a business, support line, or contact. It’s a Quick Code — a direct-action QR with no landing page.
In the app, this type’s tile and page title read “Phone Call” rather than “Phone Number” — the underlying category (and this page) still calls it Phone Number, matching the name returned for this category by the /qr/category/ API endpoint.
Phone Number is Static only — there’s no Dynamic option for this type. Once published, the encoded number can’t be edited or tracked; to change it, create a new QR code.

Create a Phone Number QR code

1

Open Create QR Code and choose Quick Code

From the sidebar, go to QR Codes, then click Create QR Code (or navigate to /qr/create). Click the Quick Code card.
2

Pick Phone Call

On the Quick Code type grid, click Configure under Phone Call, in the Static Only section — described there as “Open the dialer pre-filled with your number.” This opens the form at /qr/quick/phone.
3

Enter the phone number

Type the number into the single Phone number field (placeholder: +1 415 555 0100). This is the only field on the form and is required to publish. The field is validated on blur: it accepts digits, spaces, parentheses, dashes, and an optional leading +, and needs between 6 and 15 digits overall (matching the E.164 maximum length). An entry like 123 fails with “Please enter a valid phone number.”

Publish

Click Publish. A panel opens to confirm or rename the QR code (it defaults to “Call <number>”), assign a folder or tags, and adjust QR design before confirming.

Creating one via the API

To create a Phone Number QR code through the API rather than the UI, use category ID 4 (labeled Phone Number, allowed_qr_types: "st" — only "st" is valid for qr_type), with an info payload shaped like:
The backend accepts any string for number (no format validation server-side) — the phone-format check described above is client-side only, to guarantee scanning devices can actually dial the result. See Create QR Code for the full request schema.
The Category List reference table doesn’t currently list Phone Number (or the other Quick Code–only categories on this page) — the ID above was confirmed directly against the live /qr/category/ endpoint.
